To power the IC697CHS750, use the top left slot to connect the power supply. On both the right and the left sides of the panel, there are ground studs. When installing the rack, some space must be empty to provide access. More space is required to connect two racks with the same power supply. Around 6 inches is adequate. There is also an optional VME J2 Backplane Kit that can be helpful when installing the rack.
The IC697CHS750 rack is compatible with high-density IC697 series modules. The wires that connect to these modules enter the rack through the bottom cavity, which can provide space for up to forty #14 wires. The MS-DOS programming software configurator function allows the user to configure the equipment without accessing jumpers or DIP switches.

IC697CHS750 Core functions and features
Slot number: 5 slots are provided for installing various 90-70 series PLC modules (CPU, power supply, I/O, communication, special function modules, etc.).
Installation method: Rear installation. This means that the rack itself is designed to be fixed on the back plate or rail of the control cabinet, providing a stable mechanical and electrical connection foundation for the modules inserted at the front. It is usually used in conjunction with IC697ACC702 or similar front module installation kits (with panels and clips) to form a complete installation unit.
Size: Conforms to the 90-70 series standard rack size, with a 5-slot width.
Material: Usually a sturdy metal structure to ensure mechanical strength and grounding performance.
Bus system: The rack integrates multiple master buses internally. This is the high-speed parallel backplane bus of Series 90-70, which is responsible for the data and power connection between all inserted modules.
Power supply requirement: The rack itself does not come with a power supply. An independent power module (such as IC697PWR711, PWR731, etc.) must be installed in the leftmost Slot (Slot 1), and this power module provides the required DC working voltage to all other modules through the backplane bus.
Compatibility: Specifically designed for GE Series 90-70 PLC modules. The model prefix of all modules is usually IC697*. Incompatible with the updated PACSystems RX3i or Series 90-30.
A complete and operational 5-slot 90-70 station typically includes:
IC697CHS750:5-slot rear mounting rack (this product).
IC697ACC702 (or similar): Front mounting kit, including panel, snap screws, etc.
Power module: Installed in Slot 1 (e.g. IC697PWR711).
CPU module: Installed in Slot 2 (e.g. Ic697, CPM790, CPM795).
Other functional modules: I/O modules (digital IC697MDLxxx, analogue IC697ALGxxx), communication modules (IC697CMMxxx, IC697BEMxxx), intelligent coprocessor modules, etc., installed in the remaining slots (Slot 3, 4, 5).
This rack is used to build medium and small-scale Series 90-70 PLC stations and is suitable for:
As a substation in a large-scale distributed I/O system.
